The Savor Cannon Beach Wine & Culinary Festival offers a series of unique wine tasting experiences over four days including the opportunity to taste some of the top award-winning wines from recent wine competitions paired with chef-designed appetizers. Our Wine Walk on Saturday features over 40 Northwest wineries pouring tastings at Cannon Beach art galleries, restaurants and retail shops, all within easy walking distance in this compact beach community. In addition to ticketed festival events, the town's restaurants, galleries and shops feature a weekend full of tastings, special dinners and other events.

THURSDAY, MARCH 8 (5-7pm)

BEST OF THE NORTHWEST THROWDOWN


Our opening night event is an evening of award-winning Northwest wines and chef-designed light bites to pair with them. You'll taste 12 award-winning wines representing many of the wine-growing regions in Oregon and Washington including recent Gold Medal winners from competitions like the SavorNW Wine Awards, the Cascadia Wine Competition and the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. Wines include an Oregon Pinot Noir selected as one of Wine Spectators top 100 wines of the year, a San Francisco Chronicle Best of Class Chardonnay, the Northwests top Pinot Gris from the 2017 SavorNW Wine Awards competition and Double Gold Medal winning Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache. Our Thursday night Throwdown is an evening of delicious fun and is a great way to discover new wines and varietals while you increase your awareness of Northwest wine regions. Your vote will determine the best red and white wine of the evening from these superb selections.

FRIDAY, MARCH 9 (1-4PM)

WINEMAKER'S PREMIUM POURS


Five renowned Northwest wineries have agreed to open up their cellars and each share three special wines. This is a unique opportunity to taste library wines, verticals, horizontals or reserve wines. TERO Estates will pour a vertical of their 2008, 2009 and 2010 Windrow Field Blend, a Bordeaux style red from the oldest commercially planted vineyard in the Walla Walla Valley with each wine earning 90 points or higher from Wine Enthusiast. Willamette Valley Vineyards will feature a vertical of their 2012, 2013 and 2014 Elton Pinot Noir. The Elton Vineyard was planted in 1983 and was listed as one of the five key vineyards in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA by Wine & Spirits. Maryhill Winery will pour three reserve wines including their 2013 Proprietor's Reserve Tavolo Rosso, 2014 Proprietor's Reserve Grenache and 2016 Proprietor's Reserve Albario. Willamette Valley Pinot Noir pioneer Sokol Blosser will present a vertical of their limited-production 2010, 2011 and 2012 Big Tree Block Estate Pinot Noir. Sineann will offer a horizontal tasting of 2014 Cabernet highlighting vineyards including Phinny Hill and Champoux. This is a drop-in wine tasting with palate cleansers provided, but food is not served at this event (some food will be available for purchase).

WINE & GALLERY WALK


You'll enjoy an evening strolling downtown Cannon Beach visiting art galleries, each hosting a Northwest winery and serving light appetizers. It's a fun evening of art, wine and food with approximately 20 Northwest wineries pouring tastings during the event. Participating Oregon wineries include Sokol Blosser, Sineann, Trisaetum, Kramer Vineyards, Willamette Valley Vineyards and Blakeslee Vineyards. Walla Walla and Washington wineries include Maryhill Winery, Locati Cellars, Tero Estates, Lagana Cellars and Koi Pond Cellars. Your ticket purchase includes a souvenir Savor Cannon Beach glass.

WINE TASTING BASICS & BEYOND


In this program designed to help you taste wine like an expert, you'll sample four Northwest wines that demonstrate different wine characteristics in flavor profile, body, acidity, sweetness and tannins. You'll explore wine terminology and wine tasting do's and donts that will have you tasting and discussing wines like a pro. This program is designed for intermediate or beginning wine appreciators and is conducted by professional wine competition facilitators Hank and Nancy Sauer. Participants with Wine Walk tickets can check-in and pick up their glass at this event avoiding the line at the downtown Wine Walk check-in. Wine Walk Shuttle service will also begin here just after this event. This is a sit down program, so you'll want to arrive on time and we kindly request no fragrances be worn.

SAVOR CANNON BEACH WINE WALK


Taste wines from approximately 40 Northwest wineries as you make the rounds of Cannon Beach art galleries, shops, restaurants and hotels. Participating wineries represent the major wine growing regions in Oregon and Washington. Your ticket purchase includes a souvenir Savor Cannon Beach glass and then your tasting pours are free. GOLD MEDAL WINES & BATTLE OF THE BITES


This great event will tempt you to stay an extra day with its combination of Gold Medal winning wines and exciting chef-made creations. Local chefs and restaurants will prepare composed single-bite hors doeuvres and your vote will determine the winner of The Battle of the Bites. Participating chefs and restaurants include three-time Iron Chef Goes Coastal winner Jonathan Hoffman; Doug Brown, owner of Seasons Cafe, John Sowa of Sweet Basils Caf, and Pelican Pub & Brewery. You'll taste 12 current vintage Gold Medal winning wines from the SavorNW Wine Awards selected the previous week by some of the top wine judges in the Northwest. This event is a great way to discover some of the best wines available in 2018 to add to your shopping list or cellar.
